I heard about Las Fallas on a Spanish course I took at Culture Alley (on YouTube). I was interested so I decided to see that. It was impressive, though I can’t really say why. I am not from Valencia, so I did not grow up with this tradition, but when you looked at the people you could see everywhere that it means so much to them.

The whole festival took a week. I did go there for a week but I did not see it every day, because I also wanted to have some vacation. I did see a lot of the fallas (statues), the ofrenda (offering of flowers to the virgin), correfoc (fireworks) and the crema infantil (kid’s statue on fire). The crema of the big statue started so late that I did not see it. The mascleta (fireworks) was just a lot of noise so I decided to skip it.
